19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since spring of 2023.

The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.

His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet defended four early chances in a tight third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
